With great body and just the right notes of acidity and nutty chocolate aroma, Familia Fernandez produces a well-balanced cup of specialty coffee.
The farm is designed for water and soil conservation and achieves equilibrium for a healthy ecosystem. Fruit trees, native hardwoods, and the Musaceae, Ingo, and Erythrina species create a lively habitat and rich organic soil.
Adrian and Aaron are cousins. They carry on the third-generation of the Familia Fernandez coffee farm. Both are committed to working in the the coffee industry and are involved in various related areas: auditing for Rainforest Alliance, serving as an agricultural advisor to the President of Costa Rica, working for the ICAFE (CR Coffee Institute), and consulting for farms throughout Latin America.
Adrian graduated from the University of Costa Rica in Agricultural Engineering and a Masters in Sustainable Development. He was also a key player in the founding of Cafe Con Amor, acting as their lead Coffee Engineer.
Aaron also studied at the University of Costa Rica and graduated with a degree in Agricultural Economics.
The Fernandez cousins have elevated the quality of their family’s coffee, increased the yield, and helped many other farmers to improve their practices. They add great value to the Farmers Project team with their generous willingness to share knowledge and lend a hand.
